Gloucester County sees spike with 74 new positive COVID-19 cases on April 9

County health officials have also confirmed the death of a 79-year-old woman due to COVID-19.

Gloucester County health officials have confirmed on April 9 the addition of 74 new positive COVID-19 cases as well as one death due to the virus.

A 79-year-old woman has died from COVID-19, according to county officials. She is the seventh county resident to die from the virus.

The Gloucester County Department of Health and Human Services and Office of Emergency Management also announced 74 more positive COVID-19 cases in Gloucester County.

As of April 9 a total of 2,119 tests have been conducted. Of these cases, 417 have come back positive, 1,686 have come back negative and 16 are pending.

Here is a breakdown of the 74 new cases by municipality:

  • Clayton – 1
  • Deptford – 12
  • East Greenwich – 1
  • Elk – 3
  • Franklin Township – 4
  • Glassboro – 1
  • Harrison Township – 2
  • Mantua – 3
  • Monroe Township – 7
  • National Park – 1
  • Paulsboro – 2
  • Pitman – 5
  • South Harrison Township – 2
  • Washington Township – 14
  • West Deptford – 9
  • Woolwich – 7

The Gloucester County Department of Health and Human Services is working with the New Jersey Department of Health to conduct a full assessment that includes identifying the contacts these individuals have had.
