Gloucester County to open drive-thru COVID-19 testing site on Wednesday

The site will be set up at Rowan College of South Jersey and will be open on April 8, with future open dates to be announced.

Gloucester County will offer drive-thru style COVID-19 testing site on Wednesday, April 8.

The site will be set up at Rowan College of South Jersey, 1400 Tanyard Road, Sewell NJ 08080, and will be open this Wednesday, April 8. Additional testing dates will follow.

“Testing will be provided for symptomatic residents at a crucial point in our fight against COVID-19,” said Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger. “I’m grateful for the bravery of our local health care professionals who are on the front lines as they work to slow the spread of the virus and save lives.”

The site is a partnership between Inspira Health, Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Josette Palmer of Happy Healthy You Medical Practice, Cooper University Health Care, the Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders, the Gloucester County Department of Health and the Gloucester County Office of Emergency Management.

“We all have to work together to face COVID-19 and respond to the outbreak,” said Freeholder Jim Jefferson, liaison the Gloucester County Department of Health. “It was very important to all of us to open this site and give residents access to testing. This testing site combined with social distancing, I believe, will help us beat COVID-19.”

Tests will be performed by appointment only. Residents 18 and older with symptoms of COVID-19 must call (856) 218-4142 to be pre-screened. Please have insurance information available at this time. Once pre-screened, an appointment time will be scheduled.

“We are proud to partner with these remarkable local healthcare providers as well as our premier educational partner, Rowan University, to open this testing site,” said Freeholder Lyman Barnes, liaison to the Department of Education. “Gloucester County residents have done such a great job responding to the public health crisis by remaining home, social distancing and following CDC recommendations. Testing marks at giant leap forward in our efforts to combat this virus.”

The Gloucester County testing site is open to eligible Gloucester County residents only.

Proof of residency, such as a passport or driver’s license, is required. Anyone without symptoms will not be eligible for testing.
