Gloucester County confirms third COVID-19 death, 17 new positive cases

An 88-year-old woman who was hospitalized with underlying medical conditions is the third county resident to die from COVID-19

The Gloucester County Department of Health confirmed Friday morning that a resident ill with COVID-19 has died, the third fatality in Gloucester County.

The patient was an 88-year-old female who was hospitalized with underlying medical conditions.

In addition, Gloucester County has announced 17 more positive COVID-19 cases, bringing the county’s total number to 187. The new cases are as follows:

    • A 76-year-old female from East Greenwich
    • A 38-year-old male from Monroe Township
    • A 49-year-old male from Harrison Township
    • A 42-year-old female from Monroe Township
    • A 42-year-old female from Deptford
    • A 30-year-old male from Washington Township
    • A 70-year-old male from Swedesboro
    • A 41-year-old male from Deptford
    • A 45-year-old male from Deptford
    • A 59-year-old male from Deptford
    • A 67-year-old male from Monroe Township
    • A 66-year-old female from Monroe Township
    • A 61-year-old male from Franklin Township
    • A 38-year-old female from Deptford
    • A 76-year-old female from Monroe Township
    • A 51-year-old male from Deptford
    • A 45-year-old female from Deptford

The Gloucester County Department of Health and Human Services is working with the New Jersey Department of Health to conduct a full assessment that includes identifying the contacts these individuals have had.

County officials say the overall threat of COVID-19 to Gloucester County residents remains low. Gloucester County is expecting cases to rise. Social distancing is critical in flattening the curve and reducing cases.

Most people with mild symptoms do not need to be tested. It is important to stay home and isolate from others while sick.
