The Camden County Department of Health and Freeholder Board are announcing the first death from coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County. The resident, a woman in her 80s, was a resident of Barrington.
Additionally, the Camden County Health Department is announcing 15 additional positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) identified in Camden County. Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.
The daily information for cases is still being formulated by investigators in the county Health Department based on the scope of today’s case load. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 39 in Camden County today. The investigations are still ongoing.
“On behalf of the Freeholder Board, the Health Department, and the entire Camden County community, we extend our most sincere condolences to the family and friends of this victim,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “We must continue to be realistic in our approach to the war we are fighting with this virus. There are likely to be more deaths in the coming weeks and months if we do not adhere to the governor’s orders, practice social distancing and stay home as much as possible. That is the only way we can protect those most vulnerable in our community to this terrible disease including the elderly, immunocompromised, first responders, healthcare workers, and everyone else who is serving on the frontlines of the war against coronavirus.”
The Freeholder Board is urging residents to be mindful of their mental health and the health of others.
