Washington Township Public Schools’ Internal Equity Audit Committee’s latest meeting was successful

The Washington Township Public Schools’ Internal Equity Audit Committee held its most recent meeting on Tuesday, March 10. At the gathering, the group used Zoom to meet with Dr. Kristi Jansen, the supervisor of curriculum and instruction for the Logan Township Schools, and Eric Brown, a social studies teacher at Lumberton Middle School. Dr. Jansen and Mr. Brown shared their experiences and successes in carrying out audits for their districts, helping to close opportunity gaps for students.

In addition, the committee listened to a presentation from a Delsea Regional High School Student Voices member. Through the audit process, it has been recommended that Washington Township replicate the Student Voices program in our district.

A highlight of the evening was examining the work committee members did in examining various student school climate surveys. The recommended revisions will be considered and presented at the next meeting on April 6. At those meetings, the committee will look into district data regarding demographics, standardized test results, student participation in AP and Honors classes, and more.

“We are encouraged to see that we have had fairly robust participation in the parental survey that grants permission to survey their children. This gives us the most accurate and broad-based data for future analysis,” District Equity Officer Dr. Steve Gregor said. “This work is exciting and of paramount importance. I thank the committee for its contributions and look forward to our future meetings.”
