United States Coast Guard Auxiliary’s Marlton Flotilla to host March 14 safety course

Students earn a New Jersey Boating Safety Certificate upon successful completion of the class

You wouldn’t launch your boat without the proper equipment, and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary’s Marlton Flotilla wants you to have the proper credentials, too. Before you shove off this season, make sure you take the boating safety course “About Boating Safely” and earn your New Jersey Boating Safety Certificate.

The one-day course will be offered Saturday, March 14, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Audubon Senior Center, 239 Oakland Ave., next to the library. Boaters who successfully complete the course will be awarded the New Jersey boating certificate, required by the New Jersey State Police for New Jersey boaters and personal watercraft operators.

Learn the basics of navigation, boating law, trailering, storing and protecting your boat, New Jersey regulations, dealing with boating problems and much more. The Auxiliary strictly adheres to the eight-hour instruction time mandated by the New Jersey State Police’s Maine Division.

Coast Guard Auxiliary instructors from the Marlton Flotilla are qualified Auxiliary crew members, bringing a wide range of skills to the course, with backgrounds in power boating, sailing, emergency medical care, navigation, radio communications and more. Students receive all necessary course materials and informative handouts.

Course cost is $70. Register by contacting Auxiliarist Mark Rubino at 609 364-0929.
