A party that gives back.

That’s what the Rotary Club of Deptford has in mind for its 7th annual Christmas Party.

“We started the party seven years ago in order to give back,” said Rotary President Dave Kryszczak.

The event, held at Filomena’s Lakeview, 1738 Cooper St. in Deptford Township on Friday, Dec. 6 from 12:15 to 2 p.m., is hosting a number of local leaders and residents who work within the community.

More than 100 Rotarians and area business leaders will be present, including Mayor Paul Medany and councilmembers, Gloucester County Sheriff Carmel Morina, Deptford Chief of Police Kevin Pancoast and other township officials, according to the rotary.

“We’ll have a really good group of people around us,” said Kryszczak. “They’re always there when we need them, so we like to give back.”

Guests will enjoy a buffet lunch, with a 50/50 raffle, accompanied by the Deptford High School Jazz Band.

Proceeds from the event will go toward the local high school.

The Rotary is expecting to received $500 from donations, which will be donated to Deptford High School students who are in need of technology items. The donation will be matched by SERVPRO of Woodbury/Deptford, according to the Rotary.

The Rotary has contacted district officials who’ve identified students in need of items such as laptops and phones. The donations are meant to help those students have the resources to do homework from home, among other things.

Admission is $30 per ticket. The last day to buy a ticket is Wednesday, Dec. 4.

Interested parties can call Kryszczak at (609) 922-8634.

The club was founded in 1971. When it first started the event seven years ago, proceeds went towards the township-sponsored Toys for Tots program.

The club in recent years began transitioning its resources towards local education.
