Delran Council discusses various resolutions at latest meeting

On Tuesday, Sept. 3, the Delran Council held their monthly meeting to discuss a few resolutions.

On Tuesday, Sept. 3, Delran Council met to discuss resolutions that involved the Jake’s Place Playground at the community park, a corrective action plan, the sewage system and various other topics.

The first resolution that was approved included authorizing final payment for the community park. Phase five of the Jake’s Place Playground improvements was completed by Decker’s Hardscaping and Landscaping.

According to the council, on Aug. 23, the township engineer recommended the final payment be made to Decker’s Hardscaping and Landscaping. Total payments made to date will be $90,634.95. The project has been completed and accepted.

The second resolution that was passed approved a corrective action plan based on recommendations in the 2018 audit report. This resolution requires the township to maintain an accurate record of general fixed assets and sewer utility fixed capital. Good internal control practices dictate accurate records and should be maintained to ensure adequate control over the preparation of financial statements including related footnotes.

Previously, the township’s record of general fixed assets also included assets that could not be located. The effect of this would increase the risk of the general fixed assets potentially having material errors. Due to the recommendations, the township thoroughly went through previous documents with the township’s appraisal company to correct the situation.

The next resolution awarded the 2019 roadway improvement program to Pioneer Pipe Contractors, Inc. in the amount of $987,735.

According to Delran Council President Gary Catrambone, on Aug. 27, the township held a bid opening for the roadway improvement project, and while several bidders made offers, Pioneer Pipe was awarded the contract.

The last resolution included authorizing the township engineer to create GIS mapping for the sanitary sewerage system. A GIS map is a geographic information system designed to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, manage, and present spatial or geographic data. The cost will not exceed $10,000.

For more information about these resolutions, residents can go to the township’s website at Delrantownship.org or contact Delran Council. The members’ contact information can be found at www.delrantownship.org/elected-officials. The next Delran Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 1 between 7 and 8 p.m. at the Delran Municipal Building.
