A hot start to the week is in store for much of the region as the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for interior South Jersey from 10 a.m. on Monday through 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
Temperatures will top out in the low 90s during the early part of this week in South Jersey. With high humidity in the forecast, heat index values could reach as high as 101. The high heat index values could cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure. The National Weather Service says the heat and humidity could also stretch into Wednesday.
The combination of heat and high humidity could make heat illnesses possible for anyone who works or spends extended time outdoors. Residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air conditioned room while indoors, stay out of the sun as much as possible and to check up on relatives and neighbors.
