Donate to Sen. Singleton’s school supply drive to help the children of Burlington County

From now until Aug. 16, Senator Singleton and Oaks Integrated Care will be collecting school supplies. Participants can drop off their donations at Senator Singleton’s office at 400 North Church Street, Suite 260 in Moorestown between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Since state Sen. Troy Singleton was elected in January 2018, he has volunteered his time once a month through his community service series “Serving with Senator Singleton.” For his 20th community service project, Senator Singleton has partnered with Oaks Integrated Care for its Operation Fill-A-Backpack back-to-school supply drive.

According to its website, Oaks Integrated Care is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for children, adults and families living with a mental illness, addiction or developmental disability. The organization offers more than 230 health and social service programs throughout New Jersey designed to meet the needs of the communities with compassion.

“It is truly a privilege to partner with Oaks Integrated Care for our August service event,” said Singleton, who represents the 7th Legislative District. “We are thrilled to volunteer our time and services with a purposeful, passionate group to ensure that the children in Burlington County have the tools they need to succeed in the upcoming school year.”

From now until Aug. 16, Singleton and Oaks Integrated Care will be collecting school supplies. Participants can drop off their donations at Singleton’s office at 400 North Church St., Suite 260 in Moorestown between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Supplies needed include backpacks, calculators, binders, paper, folders, notebooks, composition books,  index cards, pens, pencils, glue sticks, protractors and rulers, pencil cases, crayons, highlighters, markers, scissors, glue sticks, book covers, and erasers.

On Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon, Singleton and other volunteers will be sorting through these donations at Oaks Integrated Care in Westampton and packing backpacks to give them to the children before the start of school.

“Oaks Integrated Care is excited to have been selected as a partner for ‘Serve with Senator Singleton,’” said Derry Holland, Oaks chief executive officer. “The support of Sen. Singleton and his constituents for our Operation Fill-A-Backpack is greatly appreciated and will further ensure that schoolchildren of Burlington County will have the resources they need to start the academic year with confidence.”

While this community service event focuses on the back-to-school campaign, Singleton has volunteered in many different community service events. In June, “Serve with Senator Singleton” volunteered at Riverview Estates in Riverton to paint living rooms and to clean the exterior of the buildings.

In May, “Serve with Senator Singleton” traveled to Palmyra Cove to clean up the shoreline. According to volunteers, many of the community service events are based around awareness days, cancer awareness months, cleanup days and even participating in local STEM events. Singleton has also partnered with Relay for Life events.

Those looking to get more involved and to volunteer their time with the senator can contact his office at (856) 234-2790 or go to his website at Troysingleton.com
