Local Moms Demand Action group asks locals to wear orange on National Gun Violence Awareness Day on June 7

Mt. Laurel Mayor Kurt Folcher recently signed a proclamation  declaring Friday, June 7, as National Gun Violence Awareness Day in Mt. Laurel.

As noted by local members of the Moms Demand Action gun violence awareness group, Mt. Laurel Mayor Kurt Folcher recently signed a proclamation declaring Friday, June 7, as National Gun Violence Awareness Day in Mt. Laurel.

With that in mind, the local chapter of Moms Demand Action is asking the community to wear orange in awareness of the day.

Locals are asked to wear orange ribbons, T-shirts, socks and ties and other articles to commemorate the victims and survivors of gun violence throughout America.

For those looking to do more, the group is also promoting Saturday, June 8, where residents from around the region are invited to attend a “Wear Orange Peace Walk.”

This walk, co-sponsored by the Camden County Freeholders and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, will take place at Roosevelt Plaza Park in Camden, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The walk will be followed by family-friendly music, activities and food.
