Mayor’s Message: Let’s embrace Spring and Summer

Mayor David Mayer

Now that Winter is behind us, we are ready to welcome Spring and Summer and embrace the outdoor events and activities that come along with it!

First, we would like to congratulate the Gloucester Township Police Department on receiving enhanced funding sources totaling nearly $190,000 last year that have enabled them to further connect with the community, protect our officers, and reduce crime making our neighborhoods even safer.

Next, we would like to thank the Public Works Department for the great job they did collecting all the leaves in the township and caring for our roads this winter. They are now busy prepping our parks and sports complexes for their opening days.

The community pool will officially open for the season on Memorial Day Weekend. This season, residents will be able to lounge in the shade under brand new canopies being installed at the pool. We hope that you take advantage of this beautiful facility that our township has to offer. Pool registration will begin May 1st at the Recreation Center.

This year, we have nine 6-week summer day camps to entertain the young ones. The Recreation Department will also be offering discounted amusement park tickets. Don’t hesitate to contact them for more information!

The township is preparing for the 35th Anniversary of Gloucester Township Day—one of our biggest events of the year! Join us on Saturday, June 1 as we recognize our 45 scholarship recipients and enjoy a day filled with rides, games, music, food and much more. The evening will come to a close with our traditional display of fireworks.

The Annual Relay for Life of the American Cancer Society will be held on Saturday, June 8. Come out to Veterans Park to pay tribute to the survivors and remember those who lost their battle to cancer.

Support our Police Officers on National Night Out which will take place Tuesday, August 6 this year. Gloucester Township ranked first in the state and 7th Nationally in 2018. Help us improve their ranking and participate in this National Night Out Against Crime!

As always, we will be hosting our Summer Concerts and Movie Nights in Veterans Park. Be sure to check out all that’s happening in our Township this Summer and join in on the excitement.
