Harrison Township has announced a comprehensive events and activities calendar to honor and celebrate their 175th Anniversary. The year-long effort will include enhancements to existing events as well as the development of new events intended to bring the community together.
“Our township is turning 175,” said Mayor Louis Manzo, “and we are excited about creating a true community-centric approach to bring all of our residents together to celebrate this significant milestone in our history.”
The event festivities will kick off with Harrison Township Day – “A Celebration on Main” which will take place on May 4. The Harrison Township Recreation Committee and the township administration are working hard to make this the best Harrison Township Day yet. Main Street will be closed from 11 a.m. until 9:30 p.m., with a parade beginning at 1 p.m., a ceremony at 3:15 p.m. and fireworks commencing at 9 p.m. to cap off the day.
New this year, Restaurant Week is coming to Mullica Hill. In June, you can celebrate 175 years with an $18.44 menu at select restaurants. Inspired by local produce, the week promises to provide a new twist on the local dining experience.
On July 28 the community is invited to raise a toast at the “Cheers to 175 Years” event taking place at Heritage Winery. This evening event will feature wine tasting and live music, along with food trucks from local eateries. A formal toast to the township’s anniversary will top off the evening.
Enhancements are planned for the annual fall festival with the Civil War reenactment, the Summer Soiree and, returning for a second year, Wizards, Witches and Wands. Everyone should have their calendars marked for the annual Lights on Main Celebration – voted best event in Gloucester County for the last five years.
The Harrison Township administration, the Recreation Commission and the Mullica Hill Business Association are working collectively to plan and develop all events in partnership with the team at For Sure Fun Communication.
“We have a lot to celebrate,” proclaimed Mayor Manzo, “our township has come a long way and we are looking forward to making 2019 and our 175 year aniversary a memorable one for the entire community.”
