Rotary to host writing contest for high school students

The winner will be awarded $1,000.

The Moorestown Lunch Rotary Club is sponsoring its second annual writing award. High school students in any grade from Moorestown High School and Moorestown Friends School are eligible to participate. The winner will be awarded $1,000. Students will research and write a five page (double spaced) paper on any aspect of Moorestown’s History to include, but not limited to:

  • Its founding in the 1600’s
  • Families of Note (Founding fathers and successful citizens)
  • Homes and buildings
  • Organizations/Businesses

Those interested should register by March 1, and papers must be submitted by April 15. Those interested should email their intention(registration) to participate to Lon Hainesat [email protected], with your name and contact information as well as a brief description of your selected topic. Final papers should be emailed to the same address by 5 p.m. on April 15.

The papers will be reviewed by a committee of five people to include members of Rotary, Moorestown Historical Society and other citizens of Moorestown with an interest in Moorestown history.

An announcement of the winner will be made in May 2019 at the Moorestown Rotary Meeting at the Community House at 12:15 p.m. on the selected date.
