Letter to the Editor: Joe Hegarty

Hegarty discusses the current political climate.

Editor’s note: The following letter was submitted to The Sun by Mullica Hill resident Joe Hegarty.

A poultice is used to drain poison from an infected wound. Donald Trump is the poultice and Washington, D.C. is the infected wound. America is at a fork in the road. One way leads to love of country, love of the Constitution, the rule of law, religious freedom, sanctity of life, etc. The alternate way leads to power and control through mob violence, intimidation, the curtailing or denial of constitutional rights like freedom of speech and assembly, religious freedom and a culture of death for “the least of these.”

It’s beginning to look a lot like Germany in the 1920s when Adolf Hitler commissioned Hermann Goering to organize mob violence and intimidation with his Stormtroopers or “brown shirts” as they were called. It succeeded in forcing National Socialism on the German people, and ultimately led to the president of Germany stepping aside and appointing Hitler as Chancellor of Germany.

We have witnessed this same kind of organized chaos all over this country in the past two years. None of it is impromptu, whether at Charlottesville, Va., the Justice Brett Kavanaugh hearings, a Philadelphia coffee shop or the abuse of the Covington Catholic boys from Kentucky after the March for Life. This is bought and paid for chaos, all with the goal of taking out the president. In addition, of course, we have the expensive farce of “Russian collusion.”

I sincerely believe Trump is the only one who has any chance of cleaning up D.C., simply because he is truly independent. He can’t be bought and his real conviction is to protect this country and its people. Why are we led to believe that Trump, upon being sworn in to the presidency, suddenly became racist and sexist when these labels were never previously applied to him and there is no evidence of this? I believe the answer is that for the Democrats, the media and Hollywood, they are not issues, but weapons.
