County hosting rabies clinics

Press release from the Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders

The Gloucester County Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Jim Jefferson said the Department of Health and Human Services will hold rabies clinics in 2019 starting in early January and lasting until April, offering free rabies shots for pets.

“Rabies is a dangerous disease that can infect our pets, and lead to pets infecting humans,” said Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger. “These free clinics offer a way for pet owners to easily comply with rabies vaccine updates and protect our pets and our communities from this disease.”

“While rabies is rare in cats and dogs, it is widely present in other animal populations such as bats and raccoons, who can bite and infect pets,” said Freeholder Jim Jefferson, Liaison to the Department of Health and Human Services. “These clinics are convenient and residents attend any location they choose.”
