Sequoia Alternative Program students complete service at Beyond Balance Horse Farm

The partnership offers students the opportunity to develop skills that can’t be acquired in a traditional classroom.

Students from the Lenape Regional High School District’s Sequoia Alternative Program completed their tenth and final week of community service for the first semester at Beyond Balance Horse Farm on Friday, Dec. 14.

The partnership between the Sequoia Alternative Program and Beyond Balance offers students the opportunity to develop skills that can’t be acquired in a traditional classroom.

During the 10 week program, students assist with barn, horse, and field maintenance, while learning about therapeutic riding and how it can help people with special needs.

The students also learn about the importance and rewards associated with volunteering to help others.

The students participating in this program earn 2.5 credits towards graduation and have the ability to earn 20 or more volunteer hours.

Beyond Balance is a volunteer-based not for profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives and experiences of individuals with disabilities through equine activities.

The organization operates out of Morning Mist Farm, a privately owned facility in Mt. Holly.
