HALO program provides resources to families who lost a loved one to an overdose

The program is provided by a licensed counselor at Center for Family Services in Voorhees and is offered at no cost to the participant.

Losses caused by an overdose are particularly painful, and feelings of grief can be especially strong during the holiday season. The Camden County Freeholder Board is reminding families who have recently lost a loved one to an overdose that help is available.

“The holidays are a particularly difficult time when you’ve suffered a loss. Gathering for traditions often amplifies that feeling of grief and the sense that a piece of the family is missing becomes very strong,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “We want to remind folks this holiday season that they don’t have to face that feeling alone. The Healing After Loss to an Overdose program is here to serve as a safe-haven for those coping with the loss of a loved one to an overdose.”

The HALO program is sponsored by the Freeholder Board and the Camden County Addiction Awareness Taskforce. The program is for families and friends who have lost someone to opioid use disorder, and focuses on the struggles of coping with losses caused by overdose. The program is provided by a licensed counselor at Center for Family Services in Voorhees and is offered at no cost to the participant.
