The Virtua Mobile Farmers Market is one of 10 finalists chosen by TV personality and chef Rachael Ray’s organization to compete in its “Feed it Forward” contest.

The public can vote online through Nov. 26 to help pick the winner of the contest. To vote for Virtua, visit the Facebook page for Rachael Ray Every Day and “like” the Virtua Mobile Farmers Market logo.

The Virtua Mobile Farmers Market brings fresh fruits and vegetables to communities in Camden and Burlington counties where access to produce is scarce. Launched in 2017, the program serves thousands of South Jersey families year-round, providing nutritious food at deeply discounted prices. Moreover, a registered dietitian rides the Mobile Market bus daily, providing free, one-on-one nutrition education to shoppers.

“We’re on track to serve nearly 9,000 families by the end of 2018, making us one of the largest mobile markets in the country,” says program organizer Suzanne Ghee, assistant vice president, Business Development & Community Health Engagement at Virtua.

This program is helping local families improve their health and well-being, and lower their risk of many chronic diseases that are tied to unhealthy eating patterns, Ghee notes.

The winner of Feed it Forward will receive $5,000 to “take [the] nonprofit to the next level,” according to Rachael Ray Every Day.

“Please vote for the Virtua Mobile Farmers Market!” urges Ghee and her colleagues at Virtua. “Winning the contest will enable us to help even more South Jersey children, families, seniors and individuals live healthier, better lives.”
