Rowan College at Burlington County welcomes longtime educator to Board of Trustees

Officials say James Kerfoot brings a wealth of experience as a superintendent or principal of several schools in Burlington County and southern New Jersey.

Dr. James D. Kerfoot is sworn into the Rowan College at Burlington County Board of Trustees by State Sen. Troy Singleton at the board’s regular and reorganization meeting on Friday, Nov. 2.

The Rowan College at Burlington County Board of Trustees has welcomed its newest member, Dr. James Kerfoot, who officials say brings a wealth of experience as a superintendent or principal of several schools in Burlington County and southern New Jersey.

Kerfoot, of Medford Lakes, was sworn into the board on Friday, Nov. 2, as the board organized for 2019.

In Kerfoot’s career he served as superintendent of several school districts including Southampton, Maple Shade and Southern Regional.

After retiring from Southern Regional, Kerfoot served as director of RCBC’s College Acceleration Program from 2013 to 2016.

This program allows students to earn college credit before graduating high school.

Kerfoot earned his bachelor’s and master’s degree from Rowan University and his doctorate from Temple University.

“Rowan College at Burlington County has achieved some remarkable success in recent years and I look forward to serving our community on the Board of Trustees,” Kerfoot said. “As a lifelong educator, I am impressed with the opportunities RCBC provides and I am eager to help the college reach even greater heights.”

At the organizational meeting, the board selected George Nyikita as chair and Chris Brown as vice chair.

“Serving as a trustee is an enormous responsibility, privilege and honor,” Nyikita said. “Our board is comprised of uniquely talented individuals, such as Dr. Kerfoot, and we take our role very seriously to provide the best possible high-quality and affordable education.”
