Spirits fly high at WTHS all-school pep rally

Press release from Washington Township Public Schools

Special to The Sun: WTHS seniors prepare to get their rally on.

More than 2,200 Washington Township High School students and another 350 staff members packed Tom Brown Field on a picture-perfect fall day for a throwback pep rally on Oct. 12. First-year principal Jonathan Strout, his administrative team and student leaders staged the old-school pep rally for students and staff to elevate school spirit and emotions leading into the evening’s football showdown with rival Williamstown High School at 7 p.m.

Color-coordinated by grade-level, teams, including a faculty team, competed in friendly competitions including a dizzy bat race, a potato sack race and a tug-of-war competition. The faculty team pulled out an impressive win over the seniors in the tug-of-war competition, but the sophomore class earned bragging rights, claiming the overall win. The afternoon also included the introduction of the fall athletic teams and performances by the marching band, dance team and cheerleaders.
