Moorestown Parks and Recreation Department offers yoga classes for teens and adults. Yoga incorporates breathing, mindfulness and low-impact movements that have a myriad of potential benefits. The Rec. Department has an evening class on Thursdays from 6 to 7:15pm on the third floor of the Church Street Recreation Center. Terie Werkheiser-McHugh is the instructor and has been a yoga instructor for the last five years at the REC. āExit4 Boot Camp,ā a multi-platform exercise program also offers yoga classes two to three times a week, so there are options for early risers and the afterwork crowd who need toĀ unwind.
We have all heard the benefits of yoga, and perhaps itās been on your list (and mine) for ages. Taking yoga through the Rec. Department is easy, convenient and low-cost. Itās designed for all fitness levels, especially beginners. No fancy yoga gear required, just comfortable clothes.
The yoga offered through Exit 4 Boot camp has two instructorsāāāJen Scharf and Jessica Johnson. They teach Vinyasa yoga, which is one of the most popular styles and is great for all experience levels. It is sometimes called āVinyasa Flowā since it moves from pose to pose, linking each pose to an inhale and an exhale. Vinyasa has great variety and really reflects the personality of the instructor, who has the freedom to mix up the order of poses. Itās very beginner-friendly and can also be a good workout. The breathing and continuous movements help keep the mind and bodyĀ focused.
Jen and Jessica ālead you through poses and movements designed to empower and connect you to yourself and your community.ā Their 60-minute guided flow classes typically begin with spinal and hip openers connecting breath to movement as you build momentum, challenging your body and mind, building strength and stamina. The pace slows as class finishes, āholding passive poses for slightly longer, focusing on connective tissue, enhancing flexibility and mobility.ā Jess teaches on Mondays at 6:30 p.m., and Jen teaches Wednesdays at 5 a.m. and every other Sunday at 8 a.m. Sign-up for their classes through Exit 4 Boot Camp on www.moorestownrec.com, and for Terie Werkheiser-McHugh Thursday ās class through Adult Programs go to www.moorestownrec.com.
