Weekly Roundup: Art teacher, WWII vet top this week’s stories

Catch up on the biggest stories in Moorestown this week.

Julia Mooney is addressing sustainability with her art project, and Arthur Goldschmidt has led an electrifying life following his time in the service. Catch up on everything from the past week in the Weekly Roundup.

Art teacher a-dresses sustainability with 100 day project

Through her one dress, 100 days project, Mooney hopes to teach her students about sustainability and to be mindful of what they’re consuming. She said as an artist, she’s always questioned the nature of things, so after she made that joke to her husband, she began thinking why couldn’t she wear the same thing every day? She took care when deciding what piece of clothing she would don every day. She wanted her choice to be practical because it had to last her from the warm 90-degree weather at the start of the school year all the way into February. So she settled on a short-sleeve, grey, hemp dress that would keep her cool in the heat, but she could add stockings and a cardigan in the cooler months to remain warm.

Arthur Goldschmidt: A life electrified by service and engineering

These days, 93-year-old Arthur Goldschmidt is in the business of burning. He said he’s burned so many DVDs that the drive on his computer is starting to give out.

As a World War II Army veteran, Goldschmidt often finds himself passing out DVDs chronicling WWII when he goes somewhere or meets someone new. He said today too many people don’t know about the Battle of the Bulge or other World War II events, and his hope is to inform them.
