AWA offering free diaster preparedness workshop

Do you know what to do with your pets in case of a natural diaster?

The Animal Welfare Association (AWA) is hosting a free workshop on Tuesday, Sept. 11 from 6 to 7 p.m. to those in the community interested in disaster preparedness for pets.

The AWA hopes to be able to teach as many residents as possible how to protect their pets in the event of a natural disaster. Regional Merck Animal Health representative Larry Feldstein for the AWA will be a guest speaker at the seminar.

“With the recent rain and flooding in parts of New Jersey and beyond, we believe it’s necessary for pet owners to involve their pets in disaster plans,” says Maya Richmond, executive director of AWA. “While we all hope that disaster never strikes too close to home, we must always be prepared.”

The event is free and open to the public, although the AWA asks that only adults attend. Seats are limited, so please reserve your seat online at www.awanj.org.
