Press release from Washington Township School District
Washington Township middle school students and parents are invited to “Township Talks Tech,” a free hands-on family night on Wednesday, September 5 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Orchard Valley Middle School. Students and parents will team with technology facilitators, who will provide an overview of the digital programs encountered in middle school. Participants will have the ability to try out the technology by rotating through three informational sessions. A prize giveaway will conclude the evening.
The three sessions include:
Unified classroom for PowerSchool: Parents and students will be given a tour of their new PowerSchool dashboard with information on how to access grades, calendars, discussion boards, and reminders.
Digital textbooks: Parents and students will be given a review of how to access their online digital textbooks for math, science, social studies and world language. Parents will be able to practice signing in and locating materials with their child’s assistance.
Digital citizenship: Parents and students will experience presentations and discussions about the following topics: creating a positive digital footprint; being safe online; and the positives and pitfalls of social media. Presenters will share information and engage the families in discussion about the issues they see on a regular basis, while communicating the expectations of the Washington Township School District. The presentations will be available online.
