Mt. Laurel Public Education Fund Annual Golf Classic returns Sept. 24

The annual event raises money to support educational programs and activities throughout the district.

For locals who love golf and love helping Mt. Laurel Schools, every September there’s one event that’s simply par for the course.

Registration is now open for the Mt. Laurel Public Education Fund’s 24th Annual Golf Classic, scheduled this year for Sept. 24 at Ramblewood Country Club.

The Mt. Laurel Education Fund was formed in 1994 as a nonprofit organization, and while the group is independent from Mt. Laurel Schools, it exists solely to raise money to support educational programs for Mt. Laurel’s local elementary and intermediate schools.

During the past 23 years, the MPEF and the group’s Annual Golf Classic have raised more than $800,000 for Mt. Laurel Schools, with the group most recently presenting the district with a check for $15,000 in January.

According to MPEF’s website, the majority of those funds are then dedicated to retention of after-school clubs and related activities, with additional monies put toward tutoring grants for students and grants for school staff for educational projects.

In past years, funds have been used to improve technology in the district and enrich students in areas such as theater, art, STEM, cooking clubs and many other activities.

“Sept. 24 is the Public Education Fund’s golf outing, and it raises a lot of money for the district which enables us to fund a lot of things,” said Mt. Laurel Schools Business Administrator Robert Wachter Jr., who also serves as one of the trustees for the MLPEF.

For those interested in attending this year’s event, the day is scheduled to include check-in and lunch at noon, a shotgun start at 1 p.m., followed by four hours of golf at Ramblewood, a cocktail reception at 5 p.m., followed by dinner and an awards ceremony at 6 p.m.

Door prizes will be available, along with other prizes for shots such as a hole-in-one, the longest drive, closest to the pin, a putting contest and more.

The cost to register for the event as a single golfer is $250 per player, which includes a round of golf and entry into the event’s cocktail reception and dinner.

The event is also looking for sponsors, ranging from sponsoring a specific hole and tee for $150, to sponsoring the event itself as a bronze, silver, gold or platinum sponsor for $650, $1,200, $1,500 and $3,000 respectively.

Platinum and gold sponsors will receive golf for four during the event, prominent listing in all advertising, and entry for four to the event’s dinner and cocktail hour, as well as a special “thank you” gift.

Silver sponsors will receive golf for four during the event, listing in all advertising and entry for four to the event’s dinner and cocktail hour.

Bronze sponsors will receive golf for two during the event, listing in all advertising and entry for two to the event’s dinner and cocktail hour.

Sponsoring a hole and tee also includes entry for one to the event’s cocktail hour and dinner.

For more information about registering for the event or becoming a sponsor, visit the MPEF website at www.mlpef.org. Those interested in sponsorships can also contact [email protected] or call (856) 778–6906.

All registration and sponsorship information is due by Sept. 14.
