Council adopts 2018 budget with municipal tax decrease
At its latest meeting, Moorestown Township Council adopted the 2018 municipal budget under which residents will see a tax decrease. The proposed tax rate of $0.404 per $100 of assessed value represents a 1.22 percent decrease from last year’s rate of $0.409. The average assessed home of $450,470 will pay approximately $1,819.89 in local purpose taxes. The municipal portion of this tax would be $1,648.72, and the library portion would be $171.18.
Noise poising a public nuisance for Blason Woods residents
For the residents of the Blason Woods development, a constant hum coming from the nearby Kings Highway Water Treatment Plant is the 24/7 background noise to their lives since the plant was upgraded. According to some residents, the sound is affecting their quality of life. Residents of Blason Woods approached council at its most recent meeting to inform it of what they’re experiencing and inquire as to how the township plans to address the noise and light coming from the plant. Tom McBride said he and his fellow residents of Blason Woods have three main concerns regarding the plant: noise, lighting and aesthetics.
Craft beer a potential addition to Autumn in Moorestown
Russ Nesevich, MBA co-chair for the 2018 festival, said this year’s Autumn in Moorestown festival is slated for Oct. 13. He said while the association plans to bring back the usual craft fair, car show and live music staples, it wanted to add a new element to this year’s event. He said the MBA drew inspiration from nearby towns like Haddon Heights and Mount Ephraim which have incorporated craft beer vendors into their town events.
