Gloucester County Animal Shelter reduces adoption fees through end of July

Gloucester County Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Dan Christy announced that the Gloucester County Animal Shelter is reducing adoption fees for cats and dogs through the end of July.

Cat and kitten adoption fee will be $35 and are BOGO eligible and cats 6 years and older are free of charge.

All cats will have all age-appropriate vaccines and be wormed, spayed or neutered, microchipped and feline leukemia/AIDS tested. Cats will be adopted with a collar and tag and cardboard carrier.

Dogs and puppy adoption fees have been reduced to $50. All dogs will have all age-appropriate vaccines including the bordetella vaccine. Dogs will be wormed, spayed or neutered, microchipped and heartworm tested. Dogs will be adopted with a collar, leash and tag.

“We hope that by reducing the fees for cats and dogs we can increase our adoption rates and get more animals into loving homes,” Damminger said.

“Adoption from the Gloucester County Animal Shelter is typically much less expensive than adopting from a private source,” Christy said. “During the summer the shelter always sees an increase in cats and kittens, and this fee reduction could help motivate people who are looking to adopt.”

Applications must be pre-approved in order to be eligible. Visit www.gloucestercountynj.gov and click on the paw print to fill out an application or call (856) 881–2828 ext. 1 for more details.

If the animal is not spayed or neutered at the time of adoption, an appointment will be made for surgery and the animal will be delivered to the clinic and the new owner can pick up their pet after surgery has been completed.
