Evesham Police are warning residents of an ‘Arrest Warrant’ phone scam

Police say victims have been getting phone calls stating there is a (fictitious) warrant for their arrest.

The following information is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:

Officials with the Evesham Township Police Department say the department has recently been receiving numerous calls from residents regarding phone scams related to fictitious arrest warrants.

Police say scam victims have been getting phone calls stating there is a warrant for their arrest, and if they don’t wire money, they will be arrested.

Police are warning residents against this scam and similar scams with the following tips:

  • Residents will never receive a phone call that says there is a warrant issued for their arrest.
  • Police say matters of arrest warrants are handled via paper documentation, typically served in person by a uniformed officer.
  • Police warn residents to never agree to meet someone at a strange address, especially someone who calls and demands cash payment.
