School administration and the Moorestown Township Police Department have investigated the rumors.
A rumored threat to Moorestown High School students was determined to be false, according to a letter released by Superintendent Scott McCartney Thursday morning.
“Our school administration and the Moorestown Police Department have thoroughly investigated the concern and have determined there to be no credible threat,” McCartney said.
McCartney’s statement followed a letter issued by MHS Principal Andrew Seibel Thursday night in which he alerted parents that several students and parents had alerted them to a potential threat.
“We take all of this very seriously and believe everything is under control and there is no immediate threat,” Seibel said. “We have precautions in place and have had extensive communications with the necessary people to ensure the safety of everyone.”
Seibel said the district appreciated the information and the intent with which everyone was alerting them.
“Safety is always our priority, and we need student and parent assistance as much as anyone within our school,” Seibel said.
