Cherry Hill High School West baseball won its opening game of the playoffs on Monday at home. The Lions defeated Toms River South, 1–0, to advance in the South Jersey Group III tournament.
Eli Atiya led Cherry Hill West to the win on the mound, pitching a complete game, two-hitter for the Lions to lead them to the win.
Cherry Hill West will play Highland Regional High School on the road in the South Jersey Group IV quarterfinals on Thursday.
Cherry Hill West softball came up just short of a win in its first round game Monday, also against Toms River South. The Lions lost, 3–1. Meredith Brickner knocked in the only run for Cherry Hill West. The Lions managed just three singles in the game.
