Cherokee High School students win in Fairleigh Dickinson University business competition

Brandnen Saat and Nicolas Coxon, two Cherokee High School students in teacher Shellie Hughes’ entrepreneurship, class recently participated at the 15th Annual Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) Business Idea Competition.

The event is sponsored each year by the FDU Rothman Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship through Silberman College of Business.

Finalists were named and prizes were awarded at a ceremony held at the Florham Campus in Madison in April.

The results announced at the award ceremony are listed below along with the student’s idea submission titles

Saat, a sophomore, was a finalist with a $100 prize for his Carbon Electric Generator project. Coxon, a senior, was a semi-finalist with a $50 prize for his Audiobooks Unlimited project.

According to Cherokee officials, a total of 450 business idea submissions were received and the top 24 were chosen to attend the award ceremony. The Business Idea judges comprised of FDU alumni, FDU Silberman College of Business Board of Advisers and entrepreneurs.
