Police need your help finding the suspect.
On Tuesday April 17, at 8:39 a.m. the Gloucester Township Police Department was dispatched to the Family Dollar, located at 1107 S. Black Horse Pike for a report of a female stating that she was robbed.
Upon officers’ arrival, a female victim was located and appeared to be suffering from a minor injury from an assault. The victim arrived for work and was approached by the suspect, who was armed with a knife, when entering the Family Dollar.
They entered the Family Dollar and the suspect was able to gather an undetermined amount of money. Prior to leaving the business, the suspect then pushed the victim causing the injury and exited out of the business in an unknown location.
Police K9 and several officers conducted a search of the area and were unable to locate the suspect. The victim received medical attention and was released from a hospital shortly thereafter.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male, approximately 5’10” to 6”’0”. He is described as having a thin build, wearing a black ski mask, a dark colored zippered hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and possibly armed with a knife.
Due to the proximity of the incident C.W. Lewis Middle School, Gloucester Township Public School and Our Lady of Hope School were placed in a temporary lockout. After approximately 20 minutes, the lockout was lifted and normal school activities resumed after it was determined that the school children and staff were not in danger.
A school lockout is used when officers are conducting investigations in the area of schools as a precaution. During a lockout, students are able to continue normal activities inside the school.
