Voorhees Breakfast Rotary plants six trees along Maiaroto Recreation Complex

The planting was part of a greater environmental initiative implemented by Rotary International.

The Maiaroto Recreation Complex on Echelon Road has six new trees thanks to a partnership between the Voorhees Breakfast Rotary Club and Voorhees Township. On Thursday, April 5, the Township arranged planting for three Autumn Glory Maple and three Linden trees purchased by the Rotary Club. These trees will provide needed shade and glorious fall colors.

This tree-planting project is part of a worldwide Rotary initiative to protect the environment, spearheaded by Rotary International President Ian Risely, in recognition that protecting the environment and curbing climate change are essential to Rotary’s goal of sustainable service. Locally, the planting project was guided and spearheaded by Rotary Club incoming president Chad Puschel and member Steven Neuner, with guidance from Sustainable Voorhees and the NJ Tree Foundation. The club wishes to thank and recognize Voorhees Public Works Director Joseph Lovallo and our supplier, Plant Detectives of Chester, New Jersey.

The Rotary Club meets Thursday mornings at 7:15 a.m. at the Voorhees Diner on Route 73. For more information about the Breakfast Rotary Club and Rotary International, go to https://www.facebook.com/pg/VoorheesBreakfastRotary and https://www.rotary.org/en/our-causes
