The nonprofit organization worked on the Mother’s Matter gift basket project on Thursday, April 5, and has a list of upcoming additional activities.
The GFWC Gloucester County Women’s Club volunteered at the Lauren Rose Albert Foundation headquarters in Washington Township on Thursday, April 5, to work on the Mother’s Matter gift basket project. This project involves putting together color-coordinated baskets filled with personal care and beauty products for Mother’s Day. The baskets are given to mothers who are experiencing hardships.
Club members put together 60 baskets and helped inventory the hundreds of personal care and beauty products received through various businesses and organizations. For more info on this organization, visit www.laurenslegacy.org.
The GFWC Gloucester County Women’s Club is a nonprofit organization, and is part of the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs. Membership is open to women all over the county, over the age of 18. The club meets the second Thursday of each month, from September through June, at 7:00 p.m. at the Mantua Township Community Center, located at 111 Mercer Avenue in Sewell. In April, the club meets at a local restaurant for its annual banquet. This year, new officers will be installed.
Other upcoming activities, in addition to the annual banquet, include hosting a dinner at the Ronald McDonald House in Camden for patients and their families, collecting coupons for our troops overseas to use in their commissaries and collecting aluminum can tabs and used toner cartridges for the Ronald McDonald House. The club is also selling $1 raffle tickets to support the Adopt A Family project during Christmas. The raffle prize is $250 in gift cards — including a $100 Visa card. The club will be selling these tickets at Washington Township’s Super Saturday on May 12.
