“We are very pleased to have earned this Advanced Standing designation,” said Sanjay Kansupada, executive director of Spring Hills Cherry Hill. “Receiving this designation proves that everyone on the team at Spring Hills Cherry Hill contributes to the well-being of the residents as well as the operations of our community.” Alexander Markowits, president and CEO of Spring Hills Cherry Hill’s parent company Spring Hills Senior Communities, added “The goal of the Advanced Standing evaluation is to assess the highest quality standards in communities and to assist consumers in making important decisions for themselves and their loved ones. We could not be prouder of our team at Spring Hills Cherry Hill for working as hard as they do to be recognized in this way.”

In notifying Kansupada about this year’s designation, the HCANJ said, “The Department of Health has granted your facility the distinction of Advanced Standing. This distinction is bestowed upon an assisted living facility that successfully complies with all state, federal and local regulations that pertain to licensed assisted living facilities and comprehensive personal care homes in the state of New Jersey. Additionally, Spring Hills Cherry Hill has proven their dedication to quality by meeting the benchmarks for certain prescribed quality indicators as chosen by the peer review panel of the Health Care Association of New Jersey Foundation.”

The criteria for Advanced Standing were established in 2012 by the New Jersey Department of Health to create a standard that is designed to elevate quality at assisted living facilities. The benchmarks that facilities must hit for “Advanced Standing” status were developed by a peer review panel, whose members include representatives of the state’s health department and the foundation of the HCANJ, the trade association for nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

The panel reviewed a wide variety of practice areas including the administration of medication and treatment, meal service and dietary requests, activity programs and specific programming for residents with cognitive issues, as well as employee training and housekeeping. Communities were also evaluated on their commitment to resident councils, family participation and their methods for soliciting resident feedback and family satisfaction.
