Widener University, in partnership with WCAU-TV NBC10, recently recognized Courteney Wiredu of Williamstown as a winner of the Widener University High School Leadership Awards.
In its seventh year, the program is recognizing 175 students from high schools throughout the region, for their abilities to stand up for what is right, address a wrong and make a difference in their communities or schools.
Williamstown High School’s Courteney Wiredu has made a difference by working as secretary of student council to diligently improve the school community.
“Through the High School Leadership Awards, Widener University has the unique opportunity to celebrate students in our region who make a difference by demonstrating notable leadership,” said Dr. Julie Wollman, Widener University President. “This year we are honored to recognize students like Courteney, who embody our university’s core principals of character and leadership to make a difference in their own communities. I look forward to celebrating Courteney and all of the 2018 High School Leadership Award recipients at our upcoming awards ceremony.”
Winners are invited to a celebratory breakfast at the National Constitution Center on March 13, as well as a leadership conference at Widener University in fall 2018. Winners will also receive a scholarship of $20,000 over four years, should they enroll at Widener University for undergraduate studies.
