The capital budget totals $5.3 million for improvements to the township, with $2.6 million marked for road improvements.
Evesham Township officials have released details for the township’s 2018 capital budget.
The municipal capital budget totals $5 million for improvements to the township, with another $320,000 for improvements to the Indian Spring Country Club and golf course the township owns and manages.
According to Evesham Township manager Mike Barth, this year the township plans to spend $2.6 million in road improvements, $865,000 to purchase vehicles and operating equipment, $360,000 for technological upgrades, $355,000 for drainage projects, $310,000 for dam improvements, $270,000 for facility improvements and $230,000 for pedestrian improvements.
Barth said the $2.6 million in road improvements was the highest capital fund for road improvements in Evesham’s history.
According to Barth, roads included in the budget are Gaylord Lane, Gladstone Road, Grayburn Drive Grayson Court, Greenbrook Drive, Hamilton Road, Hanover Road, Heather Drive, Holden Court, Holmes Lane, Hornsby Drive, Lancaster Drive, Lee Court, Lincoln Lane, Lloyd Court and Lord Place.
Also included in the budget are funds for phase three of the Kettle Run Road project.
According to township engineer Tim Staszewski, phase three will take improvements from the intersection of Braddock Mill Road down about one mile through the first set of “S curves” along Kettle Run Road.
Barth said the $2.6 million budget would also be augmented by an additional $250,000 from the state transportation trust fund.
According to Barth, the township will use those funds to address repair needs for Brick Road from Route 73 until the township line with Cherry Hill.
Residents can view the township’s “Road Condition” map on the township website at /www.evesham-nj.org where the township lists roads in the township on a map, with a color ranking assigned those road based on the need of repair for the road.
For the $865,000 to purchase vehicles and operating equipment, Barth said major purchases include $290,000 for SUVs for the Evesham Township Police Department, $210,000 for a dump truck for Department of Public Works, $270,000 for automated refuse truck and $80,000 for grounds keeping equipment for open space.
With $360,000 for technological upgrades, Barth said the township would purchase network equipment, a new phone system for the municipal building, and a fingerprint/palm scanner for the police department.
In the $355,000 for drainage projects, Barth said the township would focus on the Mayfair basins and Elmwood and Lakeshore Drives.
For the $270,000 for facility improvements, Barth said work would focus on the Blue Barn recreation center, the Gibson House Community Center and other buildings.
Looking at this year’s municipal capital budget overall, township director of finance Thomas Shanahan said this year’s budget was less than last year’s budget, which reached about $5.3 million, as it included a $500,000 appropriation for the township’s program to purchase distressed properties.
