Shop Washington Township
I am happy to see the Shop Washington Township program continuing to grow and thrive. My office has been in contact with many business owners who are looking to join the program. We are excited to see which businesses join next. There have also been a large number of residents logging in to the Property Tax Card website and registering their cards. If you would like a list of the current 30 participating businesses as well as what rebate they are offering, you only need to visit the website at www.propertytaxcard.com/ShopWashingtonTownship/participants. The list of businesses are also on the township website at www.TownshipNJ.com. Night to Shine
On Feb. 9, I was fortunate enough to attend the “Night to Shine” event, sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation at Calvary Chapel on Route 42. This event is a prom night experience for people with special needs ages 14 and up. On this one night, 537 churches from around the world came together to host Night to Shine for approximately 90,000 honored guests. Not only was this a wonderful local occasion, but it was an event that made a difference around the world. Job Well Done for Chief Gurcsik
At the Feb. 7 Washington Township Council meeting, our chief of police, Patrick Gurcsik, made a State of the Police Department Address. In 2017, Gurcsik made many positive changes and implemented a lot of new initiatives to foster community policing with the citizens of Washington Township. Some of those initiatives include: Coffee with a Cop, Shop with a Cop, High-Five Fridays, Fishing with a Cop, Cool Off with a Cop and many more. The chief has also implemented mayor and council’s initiative for increased police presence at all 11 Washington Township schools. The chief is also introducing a new D.A.R.E. program. Because of all the hard work and dedication Gurcsik showed in 2017, I presented him with an award to recognize his outstanding leadership and commitment to excellence in the Washington Township Police Department. Thank you Chief Gurcsik for your commitment to the safety of Washington Township residents.
