Brandon Pugh travelled to attend the National School Board Association’s 2018 Equity Conference and Advocacy Institute.
Moorestown Board of Education member Brandon Pugh traveled to Washington D.C. to attend the National School Board Association’s 2018 Equity Conference and Advocacy Institute from Feb. 3rd to Feb. 7th. Pugh serves as the vice president for legislation/resolutions of the New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA). He was joined by school board members from across New Jersey and the United States to hear about pressing federal education issues and to discuss them with Members of Congress.
Featured speakers at the Institute included Political Commentator Cokie Roberts, Senator John Boozman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations and Senator Deb Fischer of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, among many others. Topics included the impact of immigration reform on education, ensuring equity, education reform and the 2018 midterm elections.
Pugh and New Jersey’s representatives met with multiple members of Congress, including Congressman Leonard Lance, Congressman Donald Payne Jr., Congressman Donald Norcross, and Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman. The group also met with the education policy staff for Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker.
