Mt. Laurel residents can recycle plastic-film products until July through environmental project
From Feb. 1 through July 31, residents looking to recycle common household products made from plastic film can leave their items in special bins at the Mt. Laurel Community Center and Mt. Laurel Recycling Center. This project, run by a member of the Mt. Laurel Green Team, allows residents to recycle certain plastic-film products not accepted by the Burlington County Recycling Center.

Locals can get ready to “think pink” on Feb. 3. Whether it’s pink balloons, pink uniforms or pink posters, Mt. Laurel Girls Travel Basketball is gearing up for the organization’s annual “Think Pink Day” for breast cancer awareness. The annual event invites members of the Mt. Laurel community to stop by Harrington Middle School for a day filled with friends, family and lots of fun basketball to enjoy watching while raising money to support breast cancer awareness efforts.
Mt. Laurel Police Department reports distraction burglary at home of 85-year-old woman

At 6:55 p.m. on Jan. 25, Mt Laurel Police responded to a residence on the 1000 block of Hainesport Road for the report of a distraction burglary. The victim, an 85-year-old woman who lives alone, reported that she answered a knock at her front door and was met by a man who allegedly claimed to be a utility contractor. Eventually more men entered the house, stealing cash, jewelry and medication.
Man tackled as he attempts to photograph robbery suspects in latest Mt. Laurel Police Report
The following information is on file with the Mt. Laurel Township Police Department:
On Jan. 19 at 12:57 p.m., patrols were dispatched to a residence on Preakness Drive for a report of a robbery. A victim reported two males, mid-30s, and each with an athletic build, attempted to break into the rear entrance of a residence on Monmouth Drive. The victim began taking photos of the suspects’ vehicle while in the street. The suspects confronted the victim and demanded his phone at which time he refused to give it to them and one eventually tackled the victim.
10-year-old Mt. Laurel resident earns national acclaim for her acting
A 10-year-old Mt. Laurel resident earns national acclaim for her acting . Lily Sims won a Freddie G award for “Excellent Individual Performance by a Female.” Sims said despite winning an award for her acting, her favorite part of attending the Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta was getting to watch other performers. She said acting and singing in front of so many people was initially frightening.
