Washington Township Council held the 2018 reorganization meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 3, where president and vice president were determined. Also, Mayor Joann Gattinelli recognizes businesses participating in Shop Washington Township, while also looking ahead to what’s to come in the new year. Council appoints new president, vice president at 2018 reorganization meeting

Joe Perry took the place of Nick Fazzio as council president, and Sean Longfellow was appointed as council vice president at Washington Township’s 2018 reorganization meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 3. Also, decorum for public participation was amended to allow council to respond to residents after their allotted five-minutes during public comment.

New year, fresh start: Washington Township looks ahead to 2018

While 2017 was a time of transition and adjustment for a new municipal administration, Mayor Joann Gattinelli said the new year offers a fresh start, and the township is ready to “hit the ground running” in 2018. According to Gattinelli, economic development and support for local businesses will be among the top priorities in the new year.

District plans for the future in the new year

The remainder of the 2017–18 school year will act as a time to plan for the future in the Washington Township Public School District, with the completion of the strategic planning process, the continuation of the newly-formed Equity Coalition and significant progress in the upgrade to the district’s technology and security programs.
