District middle schools raise $2,000 for Make-A-Wish Foundation

The schools penned letters to Santa with the Macy’s Believe campaign

OVMS students Ashely Perry and Ty Perkins craft their letters to Santa as part of the Macy’s “Believe” campaign, raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Count Orchard Valley Middle School students and staff among the believers in the magic of the holiday season as they took time on Dec. 19, to pen letters to Santa Claus as part of the Macy’s “Believe” campaign. Bunker Hill and Chestnut Ridge Middle Schools duplicated the efforts. All told, 2,000 letters were collected and will be dropped into the red mailbox at Macy’s, earning a $2,000 donation from the department store on the schools’ behalf to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Since 2008, every letter to Santa dropped in a red mailbox at any Macy’s or submitted online at macys.com/believe have earned dollars for the Make-A-Foundation, a non-profit organization that creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

The students and staff took some time to write to Santa, recapping their year, sharing some of their memories from Christmases past and their wishes for things to come.
