Burlington County Sheriff’s Department 22nd Annual Toy Drive continues through Dec. 17

Locals can drop off toys for kids in need this holiday season at more than 50 different location throughout the county.

Burlington County residents looking to give back this holiday season still have time to contribute to one of the county’s oldest running collections by donating to the Burlington County Sheriff Department’s 22nd annual Toy Drive.

Residents have until Sunday, Dec. 17 to visit any of the almost 50 drop-off locations throughout Burlington County to donate new, unwrapped toys for local families with children in need this holiday season.

According to officials with the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department, last year’s drive resulted in locals donating 1,500 toys for kids in need, which marked an increase from the 1,000 toys collected the year prior.

Burlington County Sheriff Jean Stanfield described hosting the drive as a “privilege” for these past 22 years, and she said her department always receives a “wonderful response” when it comes time each year to ask for contributions.

“We’ve been doing this program for 22 years, and each year we hear back from the families that have been touched by the generosity of our Burlington County residents, and they literally have tears of joy that someone thought enough to brighten up their children’s holidays,” Stanfield said.

In addition to helping children, Stanfield said the drive is also something that officers and staff and the department look forward to every year as well.

“The holidays are a special time for everyone, and through the generosity of all of our volunteers and the community, we can make it a joyous time for those less fortunate,” Stanfield said. “It has been incredible to witness the county come together year after year and make this all possible.”

Once the toy drive closes, the department’s officers will work with local human services agencies to see that the toys are properly distributed to local families.

Locals have until Dec. 17 to get their donations in. Drop-off locations this year once again include government buildings and private businesses.
