James Q. Harris pleaded guilty to second-degree armed robbery during a hearing in Gloucester County last week.
A Cherry Hill man pleaded guilty last week to the armed robbery of two men in Westville on Nov. 11, 2016.
James Q. Harris, 27, of Cherry Hill, pleaded guilty to second-degree armed robbery. Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Joseph Brook will recommend that Harris be sentenced to eight years in New Jersey state prison. Under the New Jersey No Early Release Act, he must serve 85 percent of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole. Harris’ sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 26.
Harris and co-defendant Steven A. Cooley of Woodlynne were charged with accosting the two victims on the street, going through the pockets of one man, but obtaining nothing before the defendants fled. One victim reported that one of the men had a handgun.
Through investigation, Cooley was identified as a suspect and arrested Feb. 1 and Harris was taken into custody Feb. 17. Harris had been in jail since his arrest. Cooley is presently a fugitive.
