As the holidays hastily settle upon the township, families and friends search for events to fulfill their festive frenzies. With rosy cheeks and frosty air, residents are ready to embrace a month of twinkling lights and gift-giving. Whether you’re munching on pancakes with a special guest from the North Pole or perusing through handmade presents, Voorhees is offering a scope of holiday delights this season.
Voorhees Arts Council Holiday Craft Show
The recently established Voorhees Arts Council, a subcommittee of Sustainable Voorhees, is hosting its first Holiday Craft Show on Saturday, Dec. 16 and Sunday, Dec. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Macy’s Court at the Voorhees Town Center.
The event will feature the craftsmanship of nearly 20 local artists. The show does not solely act as an artistic exhibit but serves as an opportunity for holiday shoppers to shift from mainstream purchases.
“The event will strengthen the sense of community and art in Voorhees,” said Marianne Leone, chairman of Voorhees Arts Council. “Buyers will feel good about supporting local crafters and artists, and the artist will receive exposure, sharing their creativity with the world.”
Some handcrafted items include bottle cap necklaces, hair bows, decorated wine glasses, knitted items, ceramics, home décor, crocheted items, original photography and paintings on wood and metal.
The craft show satisfies one of Sustainable Voorhees’ overarching initiatives of “shop local,” which will, in due course, reduce carbon footprints.
“You’re going to buy unique things that aren’t a big-box gift,” Leone said.
While shopping for one-of-a-kind-gifts, kids can line up to take a photo with Santa.
Voorhees Ballet “Nutcracker”
For the past three decades, the Voorhees Ballet Theatre has produced its annual rendition of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker.”
Its 30th annual show, which has blossomed into a signature seasonal event in South Jersey, will be performed Friday, Dec. 8 to Sunday, Dec. 10 at VMS, including a Sugar Plum Fairy Tea on Saturday, Dec. 9. Voorhees Ballet Theatre’s “The Nutcracker” will run on Friday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9 at 5 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. at Voorhees Middle School, located at 1000 Holly Oak Drive, Voorhees

Ugly Sweater Benefit
The Ashley Paul Memorial Foundation is hosting an “Ugly Sweater Beef and Beer” on Saturday, Dec. 9 at the Lindenwold Moose Lodge, located at 2425 White Horse Pike. The event begins at 7 p.m.
The cost is $25 per ticket or $20 per ticket, if you bring a toy that will be donated to children in need.

Cultivate Church Cookie Swap

Shabbat Chanukah
Celebrate Chanukah at Congregation Beth El, located at 8000 Main St., on Friday, Dec. 15. Proneg beings at 5:30 p.m. and Kabbalat Shabbat service starts at 6 p.m. These will followed by a dinner at 6 p.m. The Shabbat evening costs $18 for adults and $8 for children under 12-years-old. Chanukah On Ice
Grab your dreidels and skates for Chabad Lubavitch’s Chankah On Ice. On Saturday, Dec. 16, the skating session will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. at Flyers’ Skate Zone, located at 601 Laurel Oak Road, Voorhees.
Glide to the sounds of contemporary Jewish music and classic Chanukah songs. Skaters will watch a colossal Chanukah Ice Menorah actually being carved and illuminated during the festivities. The Menorah will stand more than 5 feet tall and weigh more than 400 pounds.
Tickets are $12 at the door and $10 in advance.
Ticket prices include skate rental, doughnuts and drinks.
Stuff the Subaru
On Friday, Dec. 1, Miller Subaru will be dropping off a car at AWA with the goal of helping the association “Stuff the Subaru” with donations for homeless pets. Donations will be collected through Monday, Dec. 11. Drop off donations from Dec. 1 to Dec. 11.
ASPCA and Subaru Share the Love Adoption Event
On Sunday, Dec. 9 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Animal Welfare Association is partnering with the Miller Subaru of Lumberton for the 10th annual Subaru Share the Love Event. Throughout the campaign, for every new vehicle sold or leased, Subaru will donate $250 to the purchaser’s/lessee’s choice among four national charity partners, or a local “Hometown Charity” chosen by individual retailers. The funding that the ASPCA receives will help support the lifesaving efforts of animal welfare organizations and countless animals in need nationwide.
Participants can help Share the Love by adopting a new pet at one of the many events, including the AWA.
Adoption fees are waived for the first 25 adoptions of the day. Adopters are responsible for the cost of collars, carriers, etc. The event is being held at the AWA, located at 509 Centennial Blvd. For more information, call (856) 424–2288.
Pets with St. Nick
Bring your mutts to meet the man in the big red suit on Sunday, Dec 3. The Voorhees Animal Orphanage will host the photography event from 9 a.m. to noon. It will take place at the Promenade at Sagemore in Marlton. Santa will be found between Blue Mercury and LOFT stores. All monetary and food donations collected will benefit the Voorhees Animal Orphanage.
Jingle Bell Beach

Advent Reflections
On Wednesday, Dec. 6 and Wednesday, Dec. 13, Hope Church will host one-hour services, from 7 to 8 p.m. This is a time to relax amid the hectic holidays and reflect on the Kingdom of God. Eastern Regional Annual Holiday Craft Show
On Saturday, Dec. 2, Eastern Regional High School’s 24th Annual Craft Show includes raffle baskets, jewelry, woodwork, portraits, photography, stationery, soaps, holiday floral, stained glass, pottery, hand-painted furniture, quilts, candles, honey, holiday décor and so much more.
