Mayor’s Message — Your ultimate guide to Lights on Main

Parking, activities, road closures and more to prepare for the upcoming Lights on Main extravaganza

It’s Thanksgiving weekend, so on behalf of your township committee, let me wish you and your families a wonderful holiday weekend. Obviously, as a community, we kick off the Christmas holiday season with “Lights on Main,” scheduled for this coming Saturday, Nov. 25. Therefore, we dedicate the column this week to a guide to that event. Looking forward to sharing in the festivities with you and seeing you on Main Street.

The sixth annual “Lights on Main” is once again going to be a memorable event with plenty of activities for all. This year, the event time has changed in order to add additional venues and allow pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus to be seen early in the event, and then again after the tree lighting at 7:15 p.m. Below is some key information regarding this year’s event.

On Saturday, Nov. 25, Main Street will be closed from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Main Street will be shutdown to all traffic starting at 4:00pm. All parked cars must be removed along Main Street between Woodland Avenue and Folwell Street. Curbside parking will be permitted up to 3:45 p.m. to help with the “Shop Local” program. We recommend anyone that may need to exit the area before the event, please park remotely and take advantage of the free shuttle service, which has been increased to three buses, on North and South Main Street. The free bus service will begin at 3:30 p.m.
Like last year, we anticipate great attendance and have designated public parking as follows:

  • Municipal Building parking lot (free shuttle bus service)
  • Rte. 77 Ella Harris Park parking lot (free shuttle bus service)
  • Chianti’s Restaurant parking lot (free shuttle bus service)
  • Friends School parking lot (no shuttle bus service)
  • American Legion parking lot (free shuttle bus service)
  • Harrison Elementary School front parking lot (free shuttle bus service)
  • Amish Market parking lot (free shuttle bus service)
  • Old Police Station (free shuttle bus service)

Special & Handicap Parking:

  • 79 S. Main (U.S. Construction parking lot)
  • East Avenue curbside parking (N. Main Street)

We would appreciate support from all of our businesses and residents along Main Street (North and South) to ensure all vehicles are removed from the curbside prior to 3:45 p.m. The no parking restriction will be implemented from Folwell Lane to Woodland Avenue. Vehicles located in driveways, parking lots or garages are OK, but will not be permitted to exit the area until after the event unless there is an emergency. On the North-end, street parking will be permitted from the Rte. 322 By-Pass to Woodland Avenue. The Township Committee encourages all residents and businesses to decorate for the event to help showcase our Historic District.
