Mt. Laurel first responders support Charlie’s Kitchen to collect non-perishable food for needy

Charlie’s Kitchen, a non-profit effort, supports the food bank run by Catholic Charities located in Delanco.

Local first responders in Mt. Laurel are once again joining together collect non-perishable food donations for Charlie’s Kitchen, a non-profit effort that supports the food bank run by Catholic Charities located in Delanco.

Once again participating in the collection drive this year are members of the Mt. Laurel Fire Department, Mt. Laurel EMS, Mt. Laurel Professional Fire Fighters IAFF Local No. 4408, Burlington County Professional Fire Fighters IAFF Local No. 3091 and the Burlington County Training Officers Association.

Once collected, the food items are distributed to needy families in Burlington County on a non-denominational basis.

This year the groups are collecting and donating twice, once for Christmas and once again for Easter.

Christmas donations of non-perishable food will be accepted through Dec. 13, and Easter donations of non-perishable food will be collected from Feb 1, 2018 through March 21, 2018.

Charlie’s Kitchen serves as a tribute to the legacy of Charlie Kritz Jr., a volunteer firefighter with the Mt. Laurel Township Fire Department who died in 1998 at age 37 after a battle with cancer.

Kritz was know for his for preparing holiday meals in his own kitchen for needy families, and so after his death, Kritz’s parents Charlie Sr. and Marie decided to carry on his tradition of providing for the needy through Charlie’s Kitchen.

Food donations can be dropped off during normal business hours at Mt. Laurel EMS Station 369 at 201 Masonville Road, or at Mt. Laurel Fire Department Station 361 at 105 Masonville-Centerton Road, Station 362 at 3824 Church Road or Station 363 at 69 Elbo Lane.

For monetary donations, make checks payable to I.A.F.F. Local No. 3091.
