Democrats victorious in Cherry Hill Township Council election

In the Cherry Hill Board of Education election, incumbents Eric Goodwin, Carol Matlack and Lisa Saidel were re-elected.

Democratic candidates David Fleisher, Carolyn Jacobs, Carole Roskoph and Sangeeta Doshi swept the 2017 Cherry Hill Township Council election on Tuesday, according to unofficial results from the Camden County Board of Elections.

The four Democrats defeated Republican candidates Andrew Behrend, Scott Cohen, John Papeika and Joseph Rodi Jr. in Tuesday’s election. With all 48 districts reporting, Fleisher led the voting with about 17.55 percent of the vote. Jacobs finished in second with 16.64 percent, Roskoph finished in third with 16.48 percent and Doshi finished in fourth with 15.99 percent. Fleisher, Jacobs and Roskoph were all re-elected, while Doshi will take over the seat currently held by councilman Jim Banner.

Cohen led the Republican candidates, finishing in fifth place with 8.64 percent of the vote. Behrend finished in sixth place with 8.30 percent, Rodi finished in seventh place with 8.21 percent and Papeika finished in eighth place with 8.14 percent.

In the Cherry Hill Board of Education election, incumbents Eric Goodwin, Carol Matlack and Lisa Saidel were each re-elected, defeating challengers Fredrick Dande and Sally Tong. Saidel led the way with 24.31 percent of the vote. Matlack finished in second place with 20.95 percent and Goodwin finished in third place with 20.91 percent. Tong finished in fourth place with 17.83 percent of the vote and Dande finished in fifth place with 15.62 percent.
