The alliance is located at 17 Pemberton Road in Southampton Township. The alliance will announce award winners at theĀ opening.
The Pinelands Preservation Alliance has been working with a volunteer committee composed of professional and amateur photographers to host a juried photography exhibit focused on the Pinelands NationalĀ Reserve.
The exhibit will hang in PPAās newly renovated barn at its headquarters in Southampton Township from Nov. 4 through Dec.Ā 10.
An opening reception will be held for the exhibit on Nov. 4 from 2 to 4Ā p.m.
According to PPA officials, the group hopes the exhibit exposes people to what officials describe as a lovely and under-appreciated part of the state and will inspire exploration and action on itsĀ behalf.
The public is invited to the opening reception on Nov. 4 to browse the new exhibit, enjoy wine, beer, light appetizers and music by The Pitch PinesāāāSouth Jerseyās AcousticĀ Trio.
Awards for the winning photographs in each category will be presented along with Best in ShowĀ awards.
Attendees can meet the photographers whose work is featured in this first annual exhibit. There is no charge to attend this event and no RSVP is required.
According to the PPA, more than 400 photographs were submitted for consideration and 71 images were selected to hang as part of theĀ exhibit.
Photographic images had to be taken within the boundaries of the Pinelands National Reserve and fit into one of these six categories: landscape, flora, wildlife, people in nature, communitiesāāāincluding architecture or open student up to ageĀ 22.
Images were judged by Bill Horin, the founder and creative director of ArtC and a professional photographer headquartered inĀ Linwood,
According to the PPA, Horin has been influential in promoting the arts in South Jersey for more than two decades. He is the creator and host of the weekly television show, āArtC with Bill Horinā every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. on SNJ Today/WMGM.
According to the PPA, Horin also established two successful magazines dedicated to the arts with ArtBeat and Envision. Horin is also the director of the photography and video conference, Photo SJĀ 2017.
